I am a husband and father from Virginia Beach, VA. Over my +20 years as a musician and Music Teacher, my love for music has led me to study and receive a Masters of Music Education Degree, but my love of marriage and weddings has led me to become a full time wedding and special event entertainer.
3 things to know: My faith (understanding that my worth comes from being a child of God), my family (I have been married for almost 25 years to the most amazing woman, and we have two beautiful grown children), and my innate desire to create musically. These three things continue to be the driving force behind Ezra On Sax!
Our parent company, E and E Special Events, was founded by Ezra and Emily Washington. Ezra and Emily met each other when they were stationed abroad at Camp Hansen, Okinawa Japan in 1999 while serving in the United States Marine Corps.
They were Married on April 27, 2002. They started the business in 2003 when they moved to Virginia Beach offering complete wedding services to include Catering, Wedding cakes, décor, planning and of course DJ services! Over the years, Ezra and Emily have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of couples.
Now 20 years later, the business continues to evolve. The primary focus is DJ and Live Music services. We consider ourselves blessed to serve couples getting ready to celebrate this year, and in the years to come!

Musical Journey
Ezra has a wealth of life experience! In his High School days Ezra began recording music and was in a Ska Band! That same band (DR NØ) still records and plays together periodically! After High School he spent 5 years as an active-duty United States Marine and was even deployed to Iraq in 2003. Upon his return he continued his musical education, earning his first degree, a BM Music Education Instrumental from Old Dominion University (ODU). He immediately began teaching public school band. As a High School Band Director, he further continued his education, earning a MM in Music Education Pedagogy from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). His Graduate study focused on giving opportunities for “non-traditional music learners” to have qualified teachers instructing them musically, where there were no previous opportunities.
As a DJ/MC, Ezra loves his work in weddings and special events. He noticed that adding a live element to an otherwise “DJ-only” event increases the energy in a unique way. Seeing this, Ezra began offering a saxophone cocktail hour to his wedding clients, but quickly realized again that there are so many ways to incorporate his versatile saxophone skills into any event. So, he began remixing his own music, with the purpose of building a repertoire for “Dance Floor Sax.” His style of DJ/Saxophone has delighted his clients for years!
Currently, he still offers high-energy DJ/MC services but also sees a need to focus on a deeper experience of the DJ/Live “Hybrid Music” experience at events. As “Ezra on Sax,” Ezra works with other entertainers to increase the overall energy and atmosphere of events. This gives him the bandwidth to build a more unique entertainment service for his clients. When Ezra is on sax, his events are already live… With “Ezra on Sax” he takes his clients to the next level!
